Welcome to the
Prefects' Association of Maris Stella College, Negombo.

The Prefects' Association, which began humbly in the year 1927 under the guidance of the eminent Marist educationist, the late Rev. Bro. Anthony, has now stepped into the Third Millennium. Today, the Association commands the respect and recognition of both the school administration and the wider network of schools across the Western Province. Over the decades, the Association has flourished under the inspiring leadership and unwavering support of many distinguished individuals who served as Patrons, and Masters-in-Charge. Their dedication to fostering discipline, service, and leadership among students has been instrumental in shaping the identity of the Association. Among the Patrons who have guided the Association with vision and care are Rev. Bro. Peter Brikman, Rev. Bro. Gregory Appuhamy, Rev. Bro. Nicolas Fernando, Rev. Bro. Chinthana Nonis, Rev. Bro. Michael De Waas, Rev. Bro. Ranjith Perera, Rev. Bro. Sumith Senadeera, Rev. Bro. Srimal Kerawgoda—and most recently, Rev. Bro. Sunanda Alwis. Their spiritual and administrative leadership has been a pillar of strength through the years.

Equally significant has been the contribution of Masters-in-Charge and key mentors who have selflessly devoted their time and energy to nurturing the Prefects. The Association expresses deep gratitude to Mr. Milroy Fernando, Mr. Noel Dabrera, Mr. Srilal Fernando, Mr. Vianney Perera, Miss Chithra Rohini, Mr. Shiran Pieris, Mr. Bernil Anuranga, Mr. Upul Mendis, Mr. Gayan Fernando and Mr. Sumedha Appuhamy. Their consistent guidance and support have empowered generations of Prefects to uphold the values and responsibilities entrusted to them.

Looking towards the future, the Senior Group of 2024/25, in collaboration with the J1 Group, has taken an exciting step forward by deciding to create a dedicated website for the Association. This initiative aims to preserve its legacy, showcase ongoing activities, and strengthen communication within the wider school community.

The website’s coding and maintenance are being undertaken by Jerome Perera, who brings technical expertise and dedication to this forward-looking project. The leadership of the Association reflects its vibrant spirit and progressive vision. The Head Prefect, Ruvinda Rangay, provides strong and exemplary leadership, supported by Deputy Head Prefect Dulaj De Silva. Gavika Peiris and Hansaka Perera serve as the Media In-Charge, ensuring the Association’s events and milestones are professionally documented and communicated.

Representing the Junior Prefects, Jerome Perera lead the J1 Group with commitment, balancing his leadership role with the technical responsibilities of the website. Through the collective efforts of past and present leaders, the Prefects' Association continues to stand as a beacon of student leadership, service, and integrity within the school and beyond.
